Today, July 9th, our very special day when we became one. You and your mom made your dress–classy, beautiful, unique (only one like it!), and you looked like an angel. Together, we began our new life.
You were selected by the Anderson Independent (our daily newspaper) as bride of the month. We were gifted a honeymoon trip to Florida. Everything about our relationship seemed so magical. Three years of dating brought us to this moment.
God crowned our marriage with His favor. A friend sold us his house (only 6 months old), and you decorated it so beautifully. After two years, we built a new one, much larger, so we could start our family.
Together, our life was like a dream come true. You settled in at the bank, and I worked for a national food company. Darin came along in 1967, and Melony followed in 1970.
Life was good, really good. You made life worth living. Your beauty, charm, grace, and warm personality continuously made me so proud that God gave me to you.
In 1970, His call on our lives set in motion a series of major decisions that caused us to end up in Toledo, Ohio, pastoring a church. These were life-altering changes, and yet, through it all, you embraced life with full devotion and obedience.
On August 18, 2020, at 4:05am, you entered His Presence. O God, how I miss you! These last six years have brought major changes, and man, did I ever need you here.
Olivia and Josh were married in the courtyard on September 19, 2025, and Mackenzie and Luis were married on June 5 this year. Together, they are involved in the Kingdom ministry God called us into. Your influence has caused them to become women of God. You would be so proud!
Melony has taken her place here, and Darin is taking back his life.
I love you, Shirley Ann, and I always will! My one and only true love.
Happy Anniversary in Heaven!
Spouses are not to compete against each other, but complete each other! #PastorTonyScott
